(Papavercommutatum)
Black poppy like centres with delicate feathered petals of scarce distribution around the UK, best to see between June and July. This plant prefers arable farmland with less rain and plenty of sun, often growing up to 50 cm tall in grounds with calcareous loamy soil on limestone or chalk. Classified as endangered though able to remain dormant for long periods of time, it is most often seen popping up out of calcium rich soils by roadsides.
